Welcome to our blog!

This webpage was created around the article "Structure of the mitotic checkpoint complex " by Chao et.al.

The mitotic checkpoint complex (MCC) is a multiprotein complex that inhibits the activity of APC/C (anaphase promoting complex/cyclosome) and thereby ensures chromosome fidelity. It is an important step in preventing aneuploidy.

For purposes of this blog, we will be analysing the crystal structure of the Schizosaccharomyces pombe MCC.

This shows the subunits, Mad3 (magenta), Mad2 (blue) and Cdc20 (green). This was made on Pymol.

  1. The blog is really interesting and easy to read. The Pymol images are labelled really well, which makes understanding the protein much easier. I like the side bar containing the acronym list as this is really useful. The only constructive criticism I have, is that the font size is a little bit small!

  2. The diagrams are excellently done and very well labelled. The blog is very smart and detailed. I feel the formatting could be improved to make the blog overall look a little prettier, but overall it is very good.
